Adam Eikamp is a Midwest-based artist who believes art should be personal, approachable, and woven into everyday life. Born in Watertown, South Dakota, and raised in the small town of Dysart, Iowa (population 1,200), Adam grew up with a strong sense of community—an influence that continues to shape how he collaborates with clients today. He has drawn for as long as he can remember.
Adam earned his BFA in Art and Design from the Iowa State University College of Art and Design in 1999. During his studies, he spent a semester in Rome immersed in the work of Renaissance and Baroque masters. This experience deepened his appreciation for craftsmanship, composition, and visual storytelling, elements that continue to inform his work.
After college, Adam worked professionally in galleries and studios in Fort Lauderdale and the Twin Cities. Early in his career, he served as a sales associate at Wyland Galleries and apprenticed under South Florida artist Michelle Woolley.
After returning to the Midwest, Adam joined Tivoli Too Design and Sculpture Studio in Minneapolis, where he gained hands-on experience creating large-scale commercial art. Working alongside creative teams connected with Disney, Target, and Marshall Field’s, he helped produce bold creatures, themed environments, and eye-catching icons for theme parks, trade shows, and malls across the country.
Now living and working in Dubuque, Iowa, Adam operates Eikamp Arts as an independent artist. His work spans a wide range of media and projects, including oil paintings on panel, wood tile mosaics, public murals, faux finishes, painted signage, wood sculpture and structures, and custom-themed kids’ rooms.
Adam enjoys projects of all sizes and values working directly with clients to create artwork that reflects their personality, story, and space. As he says, “I enjoy working directly with my clients to produce a work of art that best fits their personality and space.” Whether it’s a single painting, a large-scale mural, or a custom wood sculpture, Adam is dedicated to bringing thoughtful, creative art into homes, businesses, and communities.
Adam’s work can be found in numerous public and private settings, including installations at the University of Iowa and the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa, as well as the Hurstville Interpretive Center in Maquoketa, the Dubuque Museum of Art, two grain silos, and multiple private collections.
Adam and his wife, Dawn, live in Dubuque with their two teenagers, Owen and Millie, their dog Tim, and cats Sky and Larry.
